Hello there, Leonidas, the Lion of Spartan Junk Removal, here. Today, I’ve got a tale that’s sure to make you roar with intrigue and curiosity!
Once upon a time, in the heart of Laurel, MD, we were called to a job that seemed like any other. A reporter had to leave the United States immediately and needed help clearing out their place. The task seemed simple enough, but what when we arrived what we found was a surprise.
When we arrived, one of the first things we do is take a look around the location so we can give an estimate. When I spoke to the point of contact, the first thing he said was everything goes and he wanted us to start immediately. Of course, I said we had to do the estimate and I did. The point of contact was firm in resolve and said to start now, he didn’t care what the cost was, which I happily started.
What was surprising was the condition of the house. Everything was in clean condition; everything was organized. It was as if the reporter had just stepped out for a moment. Nothing was packed, nor was anything sold. It looked like they just took their shirt on their back and left immediately.
When we asked why everything was being removed, all we were told was that the reporter had to leave the country immediately. Hidden among the usual clutter was a small treasure: the reporter had left behind a beautiful wire bowl (which I still have) and in it was a stockpile of change and euros. When we asked our point of contact if he wanted the change, he said no, his exact words were, “I’m not touching anything in this apartment, you can have it.” He just wanted the job to be completed as soon as possible.
Later to find out when we took the bowl of change my partner and I split $500 in American change and we also gained some euros (which I also still have). Now, you might be thinking, “That’s quite a tip!” Well, it was but we felt uneasy because this job left us with more questions than answers. Why did the reporter have to leave so suddenly? Where was he going? And why leave behind such a stash of cash and, more so, why did the point of contact refuse the money?
